  •  Historical Preservation in Grand Junction

Preserving historic places and structures can be of great value to the community.  It is a way of creating an environment that the public can enjoy and take pride in.  Preservation makes the community more attractive and adds character and individuality.  This can attract business and tourism from other areas, and provide a common ground or interest which can be shared by everyone.

The purpose of the Grand Junction Historic Preservation Program is to protect and preserve Grand Junction's heritage, which is exemplified in historic structures, sites and districts.  The City has completed three phases of historic surveys including downtown, Lincoln Park, Sherwood Park, North 1st Street, Riverside/El Poso, Orchard Mesa and Pear Park areas.  The results of the surveys are detailed in inventory forms for over 1,200 buildings and survey reports that are available at the Neighborhood Services Division office.
