Fire Department Hazardous Material Team

Regulated hazardous materials are stored and transported through our community on a daily basis. In the event of an uncontrolled release or spill, the Fire Department provides specialized personnel and equipment to the site to mitigate the incident.

The HazMat Team participates in the Local Emergency Planning Committee (LEPC) meetings where specific hazmat issues can be addressed. Pre-plans provide critical knowledge to the Fire Department that enables a faster and more efficient response.
