The testing process to become a Grand Junction Firefighter includes a written test, a physical ability test and a panel interview. Applicants must successfully complete each phase of testing in order to continue with the process. When the candidate is considered for a vacancy, they will be required to successfully complete a suitability interview, a 12 hour station assessment, and a background investigation. Before candidates are hired, they will have a psychological evaluation and physical examination, including a drug screening.
