STREETS DEPARTMENT Organizational Functions
and Roles:
The Streets Systems Division is comprised of 28 full-time field
staff, five seasonal/part-time employees, two Supervisors,
a Support Technician, and an Administrative Assistant.
Street Systems is divided into two multi-functional components;
multi-functional in the sense that as the year progresses, the
majority of the 33 full time field staff will have performed almost
any of the more that 40 primary tasks that are the responsibility
of the Streets Systems Division. These tasks are distributed between
the two supervisors and form the internal teams. The Streets
Maintenance Supervisor focuses on our extensive street pavement
maintenance program with varying degrees of construction and installation.
The Streets
Cleaning Supervisor focuses on street cleaning, storm drainage/irrigation
systems maintenance, and leaf removal.
Because of the wide spectrum of services we provide to the City
of Grand Junction, we are required to employ people with a wide
scope of skills and talent. Our primary duties are described as follows:
- Preventative Street Maintenance - (crack fill and Chipseal operations)
- Summer
- Spring Cleanup Program - Usually the first two weeks in May
- Leaf Removal Program - Late October to mid-December
- Snow and Ice Removal - Winter months
- Street Cleaning - Year round
