Why does the City pick up leaves?
Fallen leaves can clog storm sewers after a rain or snow shower.  By picking leaves up, we keep our storm drains clear. This helps the City comply with federal stormwater regulations. We also recycle all of the leaves, saving space in the landfill.

How does the program work?
We started picking up leaves on October 19th and will continue through mid-December.  Four vacuum trucks and two street sweepers work their way through the entire City, once each week.

What do I need to do?
Rake your leaves into the street, 18-inches out from the gutters to allow stormwater to flow freely. No gutters on your street? Rake leaves to the edge of the street, in front of your residence. Have your leaves out by 7 a.m. on your pick up day.

At your home each week!
With our weekly schedule, you’ll know exactly what day your leaves will be picked up. Check the Route Map for details on when crews will be in your neighborhood.
If we get behind schedule due to equipment breakdowns, weather or holidays, you don't need to call. We will continue picking up leaves throughout the week until your route is complete.

What if my pick up day falls on a holiday?
This year we will not pick leaves up on Veteran's Day (November 11th), Thanksgiving or the day after Thanksgiving (November 26th & 27th). If your normal pick up day falls on one of those holidays, please place your leaves out by 7 a.m. on the Monday of that week. Crews will be in your neighborhood to pick up leaves, as they can, throughout that week. The following week will return to the regular schedule.

Please DO NOT:
  • Park on leaves (use your driveway, if you have one)
  • Soak leaves with water

To ensure the safety of City employees, keep equipment running, and help
crews maintain the weekly schedule, these items
CANNOT be picked up :

  • Bagged Leaves
  • Tree Limbs
  • Brush/Garden Trimmings
  • Wood
  • Rock, Brick or Concrete
