General Investigations

Detectives working under the General Investigations Unit predominantly handle felony crimes. Investigators are primarily responsible for either crimes against property or crimes against persons such as burglary, forgery, embezzlement, theft, homicides, assaults, robberies and child abuse.

In addition, cases involving runaways, missing persons (without foul play), vehicle impounds, check frauds, liquor license background checks, pawn transaction entry and sex offender registration are duties also managed by this section.

Western Colorado Task Force

The Western Colorado Task Force is a collaborative effort between the Grand Junction Police Department, the Mesa County Sheriff's Office and the Federal Drug Enforcement.

The Task Force's function is intelligence, search warrants, interdiction, prescription fraud, traffic interdiction, clandestine drug lab seizures, cultivation and arrest warrants. It continues to be a force of impact on narcotics traffic in the Grand Valley.
