The
Community Advocacy Program (CAP) coordinates all of the Grand Junction Police Department's community- and problem-oriented policing projects.
CAP officers serve as liaisons between community
members and the patrol officers assigned to specific geographical
areas. CAP's oversight includes Crime Prevention programs,
Crime Stoppers (see below, right), and School
Resource Officers.
Neighborhood
Watch
This highly successful crime prevention program is
based on neighbors working together with police to keep their neighborhood
safe. For more information about Neighborhood Watch, contact officers at the Mesa Mall Substation.
The team coordinates many other programs,

The GJPD's School Resource Officers (SROs) provide education of laws and an open line of communication
between law enforcement and students, parents, teachers and administrators in School District 51. They work to reduce crime through education and by serving as role models. They conduct law-related education courses in schools to help young people learn
about the legal system and personal safety, show positive alternatives
to drugs and violence, and work to keep the school environments
safe for everyone.
The success of the School Resource Program continues to provide
role models, education of laws, and an open line of communication
between students, school faculty, parents and law enforcement.
