Learn to play youth basketball in a non-competitive and instructional
league with the Grand Junction Parks and Recreation Department.
We have girl's and boy's
leagues for 2nd - 6th graders offered each year that are a
great way to develop basic basketball skills and fundamentals.
Good sportsmanship and equal participation are emphasized
in this program. A team t-shirt is included in the fee.
Volunteer Coaches
The success of our youth basketball program depends upon the
valuable service of volunteer coaches. Are you interested
in becoming one our valued volunteer youth basketball coaches?
Volunteer 3 - 5 hours per week, mentor youth, teach basketball
skills and have fun! For more information please contact

and bring it to the Parks and Recreation Department at 1340
Gunnison Avenue.
Practices and Games
Practices are held at various school district elementary and
middle schools. Practices are scheduled through the Parks
and Recreation Department. 3rd and 4th Grade teams practice
once a week in addition to games on Saturdays. 5th Grade teams
practice once or twice a week in addition to games on Saturdays.
6th Grade teams practice twice a week in addition to games
on Saturdays. Practices are scheduled after 4:30 p.m. and
are held at various school facilities. Games are held at the
following facilities: Lincoln Park Barn, Redlands Middle School,
Bookcliff Middle School, West Middle School, and East Middle
School. Games are played on Saturdays beginning at 8:00 a.m.
and continue through late afternoon.
Team Formation
Teams are formed based on school attendance area. To ensure
equity and fairness, requests for coaches are not accepted
for the youth basketball program. Carpool requests are accepted
for one player only.
Girl's
Basketball
The girl's basketball program runs mid October through mid
December. Registration concludes in mid September. Watch for
registration information in the summer activity guide or at
your school.
Boy's
Basketball
The boy's basketball program runs early January through mid
March. Registration concludes in early December. Watch for
registration information in the fall activity guide or at
your school.
