Trailhost Program

Are you a friendly face who could be a helpful ambassador to the Grand Junction community? If so, the Parks and Recreation Department needs you! Become part of the volunteer Trail Host program. Trail Hosts casually walk, bike or rollerblade the sidewalks of downtown or the trails on the riverfront to serve as a friendly presence in the community. They seek to use observation, not enforcement, to keep the streets and trails safe by watching for trail hazards, dogs off-leash, graffiti sightings or suspicious behaviors. Trail Hosts also act as welcoming representatives for those pedestrians seeking additional information about the community, parks, open space and trails and help to preserve the welcoming atmosphere on our local trails.

The Parks and Recreation Department is currently recruiting additional Trail Hosts. Volunteers can commit as little as 1 hour per week to ride, walk or roller blade the downtown or Riverfront area. If you are interested, please bring your completed application to the Grand Junction Parks and Recreation Department at 1340 Gunnison Avenue. Trail Hosts are subject to background checks and will receive “on trail” training. For more information about the Trail Host program please email Emily Wright or call 254-FUNN.
