of these potential emergencies through educational programs, fire
loss prevention, and emergency response.
The Grand Junction Fire Department is an emergency organization that continually strives to anticipate and meet the needs of the public it serves. The Department provides Fire & Emergency Medical Services (EMS) to the over 84,000 residents living within the City of Grand Junction and the Grand Junction Rural Fire Protection District (GJRFPD). The Department protects 77 square miles of area with 119 full-time and several part time employees working from five station locations. We also provide ambulance services to the Glade Park Fire District (452 square miles) and Hazardous Materials response for Mesa County and Bureau of Land Management (BLM) lands on the Western Slope of Colorado. In 2008 the Department responded to 13,246 calls for service.
