Planning Commission Has New Meeting Time

The Grand Junction Planning Commission has changed its meeting time from 7:00 PM to 6:00 PM. They will still meet on the second and fourth Tuesdays of each month, but will now start one hour ealier. This new time will start with their first meeting on January 8, 2008.

The Grand Junction Planning Commission meets in the City Auditorium located in the City Hall Building at 250 North 5th Street.

The Grand Junction Planning Commission is composed of seven members and two alternates and each member serves a four-year term. The Planning Commission hears and considers changes in the City's Growth Plan, makes final decisions and recommendations to City Council on planning and zoning related issues such as subdivisions and rezones.

Any person interested in serving on the Planning Commission must reside within the city limits. Please submit your letter of interest and resume to the City Council, c/o City Clerk, 250 North 5th Street, Grand Junction, Colorado 81501. The Grand Junction Board of Appeals is scheduled to meet on the second Wednesday of the month at 12:00 Noon in the City Audiorium located in the City Hall Building at 250 North 5th Street if a variance application has been submitted to the Planning Division of the Public Works and Planning Department.

The Board of Appeals is composed of five members appointed for three-year terms by the City Council. The Board of Appeals hears and decides requests for variances in the sign code, non-conforming uses and the bulk requirements of the zoning districts in the Grand Junction Zoning and Development Code, as well as appeals of administrative decision pursuant to the Zoning and Development Code.
