The City of Grand Junction adopted its Growth Plan on October 2,
1996. This plan is a guide to public and private growth decisions
through the year 2010. It is a statement of the community's vision
for its future and a road map providing direction to achieve that
vision. The view of the future expressed in the Growth Plan is shaped
by community values, ideals and aspirations about the best management
of the community's resources. The Growth Plan may be amended twice
a year.
In addition to defining the community's view of its future, the
Growth Plan describes the actions the community can take to achieve
the desired future. The Plan uses text and diagrams to establish
policies and programs the City may use to address the many physcial,
economic and social issues facing the community. The Plan is thus
a tool for managing community change to achieve the desired quality
of life.
