Works Projects
For the Week of July 21, 2008
(This list is arranged in the order by affect on traffic. Those at the top of the list are MOST likely to impact traffic. New projects are in bold.)
Riverside Parkway Closures and Impacts:
- River Road has reopened to through traffic from 24 Road to West Avenue and Highway 340. Please observe reduced speed limits in some work areas.
- Possible lane closures of north and southbound traffic on US Highway 50 at 5th Street between 8:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.
- 25 Road is closed south of I-70 B
2008 Overlay Project
Monday, July 21
- Milling 24 ½ Road from F ¼ to G.
- Warranty repair on G Road at 24 ½ and 25 Roads
- Milling 25 Road from F ½ Road north to G Road
- Expect delays with flaggers and one lane of traffic open at a time
Pavement milling will take place next week in the areas noted below in preparation for asphalt overlays. These streets will be closed for one day during milling operations. A more detailed schedule will be sent out next week.
- G Road between 25 and 26 Road
- Racquet Way and Racquet Ct. south of G Road
- Pinyon Avenue from 25 ½ Road to Industrial Blvd.
- Bookcliff Ct. and Cedar Ave. from Walnut to 6th St.
- 6th St. from Walnut to Bookcliff
- Orchard Avenue from 5th to 7th
- 9th St. from Ute to Grand
- 8th St. from Grand to White
- Rood Ave. from 7th to 8th
Overlays will be done on the following streets and they will be closed to through traffic for a day. A more detailed schedule will be sent out next week.
- 24 ½ Road from F ¼ to G Road
- G Road from 25 Road to 26 Road
- 25 Road from Hayes Dr. north to G road
- G Road from 25 to 26 Road
- 25 Road on Monday, 7/28
- Redlands Parkway on Saturday, 7/26
Annual Chipseal program
City crews will be working on the following streets to apply chipseal:
Sunday, July 20
- Grand Ave. from First Street to 7th St.
- 30 Road from E Road to D Road
- 9th Street from Ute Ave. to Pitkin Ave.
- Crown Point Cemetery
Monday, July 21:
- 11th Street, 17th Street, 19th Street, 21st Street, 24th Court, 22nd Court, 28 ¼ Road from North Avenue to the south, Harris Road, Chipeta Avenue, Glen Road, Willow Road, Belford Avenue, Teller Avenue, Hill Avenue, Gunnison Avenue, Glen Road, and Teller Ave.
Tuesday, July 22
- Main Street from 8th to I-70B, 28 ½ Road, Niagara Circle, Niagara circle West, Niagara Circle East, Niagara Circle North and Niagara Circle South

Sunday evening, July 27, fogsealing on the following streets:
- White Avenue, Rood Avenue, 2nd Street, South Avenue, 1st Avenue, 8th Street, 10th Street, Colorado Avenue, 13th, 14th, and 15th Streets
D ½ Road Utility Project
Central Grand Valley Sanitation District will be replacing the existing sewer line in D ½ Road between 30 3/8 Road (the Pear Park Elementary School entrance on D ½ Road) and 31 Road. Construction will be in the eastbound lane of D ½ Road from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday and weekends when necessary. D ½ Road will be closed to through traffic from 30 Road to 31 Road. The project should be complete by August 15, 2008.
Colorado Avenue closed between 3rd and 5th Streets
- The 200 block of Colorado Avenue is closed for reconstruction through the end of August
- The 300 block of Colorado Avenue is closed for reconstruction through the end of July
- The 400 block of Colorado Avenue is closed through the mid-July
- The west half of the 400 block and the east half of the 300 block have been opened at 4th Street to allow access for parking along the south side of Colorado Ave.
- All businesses remain open and pedestrian access will be maintained to all stores on the south side of the street.
G ½ Road Improvements
G ½ Road is closed to through traffic, but may be partially reopened on July 23. Until that time, access to Wilson Ranch and Woodridge subdivisions will be from either 25 Road and
G ½ Road or 25 Road and G 3/8 Road.
26 Road Closure
Construction on 26 Road improvements will begin on Thursday, July 24. At that time, 26 Road will close to through traffic between G Road and I-70. Access to Bookcliff Gardens Nursery will be from the north on 26 Road.
