    Compressed Natural Gas (CNG)

You may wonder what the City of Grand Junction is doing in terms of compressed natural gas. The answer is PLENTY!

The City of Grand Junction has been exploring alternatives to provide a CNG fuel option for several years and in 2011 many of these alternatives are coming to fruition. The City of Grand Junction’s Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) Project began in 2006 with discussions regarding the Persigo Wastewater Treatment Plant and the potential for capturing and utilizing excess biomethane gas that is currently being flared off. Since then, the CNG Project has evolved into a comprehensive plan, involving several governmental partners, for the transition to utilization of Natural Gas Vehicles (NGV) in governmental and transit fleet.
