The Grand Junction Fire Department and International Association of Firefighters Local 2808 are kicking off their 2012 Fill-The-Boot Campaign to raise money for the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) on September 1st - September 3rd (Labor Day weekend). Since 1954, the IAFF has raised nearly $300 million to support the MDA’s mission and is the single-largest contributor. Last year the Grand Junction Fire Department raised nearly $6,000, with all the proceeds going to the MDA to help patients with neuromuscular diseases. The Grand Junction Fire Department and Local 2808 have significantly contributed to the funds raised for MDA year-after-year.
Firefighting personnel will be on collecting funds for this great cause at City Market Stores (1st & Rood, 24 Road, Highway 50), Wal-Mart on North Avenue, and Albertson's on Broadway.
“The Grand Junction Fire Department is happy to participate in this outstanding fundraiser once again and to help the MDA offer vital services and support to those suffering from neuromuscular diseases,” said Firefighter/MDA Coordinator Derek M. Trombetta. “All of the proceeds collected from Fill-The-Boot stay in Colorado, and 77 cents of every dollar stay on the Western Slope to help make a difference for those the Muscular Dystrophy Association serves.”
The Grand Junction Fire Department, Local 2808, and the MDA all would like to thank the community for their continued support of this outstanding cause. For further information and interviews please contact Firefighter/MDA Coordinator Derek M. Trombetta at (970) 260-7464. DMT 08/30/2012 Full News Release
