The Grand Junction Police Department has arrested a man suspected of stabbing another man several times. Officers booked 35-year-old Clinton Chism into the Mesa County Jail on charges including attempted 2nd degree murder after an investigation showed he repeatedly stabbed the victim.

We believe the incident began when Chism’s wife went to their home to remove some of her property because she was separating from him. The stabbing victim, who has accompanied her to the house, remained outside in the car. When Chism learned the man was outside he went out to the vehicle with a large knife, opened the door, and began stabbing the victim who was sitting in the passenger seat. The victim was able to escape out the driver side door.

Officers found Chism at his home in the 1100 block of Pitkin shortly after responding to the scene and he was taken into custody without incident. The stabbing victim was taken to the hospital.
