Volunteer Opportunities
Parks and Recreation
You can make a difference in the Parks and Recreation programs! Teens, adults and seniors are encouraged to get involved with our community programs and special events -- you'll have fun, meet new people, and learn lots about the parks. Opportunities abound in our Trail Host program, special events, senior activities, and almost every department program. We can place you into a program that fits your interests.
For more information about volunteering please call 254-3866.
Police Department
The Grand Junction Police Department's volunteers are valuable resources. Currently there are 41 active volunteers who work in various locations in the department including the Crime Lab, Investigations, Traffic, Records and the Community Advocacy Program (CAP). Their tasks include: clerical work, computer entry, investigation assistance, neighborhood speed control, vehicle maintenance and customer service.
They have the opportunity to help enhance services, enabling police to respond more effectively to enforcement and policing priorities.
If you are interested in volunteering, The Grand Junction Police Department would love to have you join the ranks of Volunteers in Police Services. If you are interested in finding out more, please call Terri Gird at 244-3575.
Grand Junction Visitor and Convention Bureau
Tourism is Grand Junction’s #1 business. Our economy is greatly impacted by the number of visitors we encourage to stay and enjoy themselves and to share their Grand Junction experience with friends and family. The Visitor Center’s goals are to provide outstanding hospitality and valuable information to all visitors who walk-in or call-in to our Center.
We would not be able to meet these goals if it were not for our volunteers (Information Specialists)!
What’s in it for me as a volunteer (Information Specialist)?
• The opportunity to meet people from all over the US and the world
• Free monthly training sessions or tours of local attractions
• Flexible scheduling
• Meaningful “ambassador” work
• Helping make a positive impact on Grand Junction’s economy
• Monthly Volunteer Newsletter with updated tourism and training opportunities
• Annual Volunteer Appreciation Banquet
• Friendly, positive, family atmosphere
Please call Melanie Wiseman at 256-4057 if you have any questions.
